Why do I need a membership?

A membership is necessary if you want to use the rifle/pistol range, archery area, camp, fish or use the club’s non-public activities. The gate combination is only given to paid members. A membership is not necessary if you only want to use the club’s public activities such as Wednesday night Trap/Skeet, or organized rifle shoots.

If I am interested in being a member, when can I check out the club?

The Club is a member’s only club with the above exceptions. The best time to check out the club is Wednesday evenings during open Trap/Skeet or during one of the scheduled rifle shoots. You need to have a membership to be on Club property during non public shooting times unless you are a guest of a member. The Club is operated by volunteers so special arrangements usually cannot be made.

How many times can I come as a member’s guest?

Once. If you want to continue to use the club, we ask you purchase your own membership.

How do I get a membership?

The application form is on the website and at the clubhouse. You may obtain a membership in person at the Clubhouse on Wednesdays during the public shoot 4:30-8pm weather permitting, or you can mail it in. Please allow 7-10 days for processing after mailing. A membership card and gate combination will be mailed to you. Please have your card on your person while using the club.

Who can I include in my membership?

Spouse and children up to their 18th birthday unless that family member is currently enrolled as a student in high school, a trade school or college after which that family member needs to purchase their own membership. (Does not apply to disable household members.) Do not share the combination with children 17 and younger.

Is there an age limit for who can be on Club property?

Yes. See the club rules section on the website. You must be 18 to be on club property without a parent or guardian, and must be 21 to possess a firearm without a parent/guardian present.

It is June. Can I buy a membership for half price?

No. Memberships aren’t pro-rated. They run from January 1-December 31st each year and are $105 if they are purchased after Dec. 31st of each year. We encourage people to purchase/renew memberships for $80 by December 15th for the following year so full advantage can be taken for club use, plus we offer a discount. A mass mailing of applications and the newsletter will be done to current members in late October.

How do I know the Club’s activity schedule?

The calendar is posted on the website. The description of shooting events and contact numbers is under “Activities and Contacts” on the website. If there is a trap shoot, the rifle range is closed.

What are the Club Rules and where are they located?

The club rules are posted on the website and a copy is on the bulletin board at the club. You need to agree to them when you sign your membership application (also on the website).

Can a group of my friends come out and use the trap range on a day other than Wednesday?

Usually not, but contact a board member. When the trap range is open, the rifle range is closed. There is a manual trap machine on the skeet field that may be used on a first come, first serve basis. You will need to bring your own clays.

What are your fees to use the rifle/pistol range for non-members?

You need to be a member to use the rifle/pistol range unless it is an open shoot organized by the club or the guest of a member. Check out the calendar for these dates.

How many non-member friends can I bring to the club at a time?

Six. They need to purchase their own membership if they want to use the club after the first visit.

I lost/didn’t receive my membership card or combination won’t work.

Contact the Treasurer at 641-891-4004 or contact@mcsportsmen.com. After your membership status is confirmed, he will contact you by either the phone number or e-mail that you listed on your membership application. Please keep your information up to date. The gate combination changes every year on January 1st . **Lifetime members will be mailed the new combination when we receive your annual update/liability form** Sharing the combination with others is prohibited.

I am a member and would like to use the Clubhouse for a personal party. Can I do this?

Yes. The clubhouse is available to all members whenever they are using the club. Reservations will only be accepted for the current calendar year. The reservation is for the clubhouse only and the rest of the club remains open for its members as usual. If you would like to have a private party, there is a FORM to read, sign, and mail by the member responsible for the reservation. The person with the membership needs to make the reservation, is responsible for the party, and needs to be present. Sign the last page and send it to the address listed on the page with your rental fee and we will put you on the calendar. Please make sure the clubhouse is not being used by looking at the calendar first. There is no running water available in the kitchen, and all club rules need to be followed. Also, a liability waiver must be signed by all adults who attend and will be located on the desk.
