Fishing

Our onsite pond is stocked with various kinds of fish for members and their families to enjoy catching.

  • There is a 10 inch minimum on crappie and 14 inch minimum on bass.

  • Please do not fish with minnows.

  • Boats are allowed only with manual propulsion or electric motors.

  • Swimming is not allowed.

Bowhunting / Archery

An area is set aside for bowhunting and archery practice. There is a big hay bale for a backstop. Please bring your own targets.

Primitive Campsites

Primitive campsites, without water or electricity, are available.

  • Campers wanting to stay longer than three (3) days need to check with the Board of Directors prior to their stay.

  • **Please do not consume alcohol while on Club property.**

Clubhouse Reservation

The Marion County Sportsmen Club building is available for rental. Written permission must be issued to the member in order to secure the reservation. The building may be used for a specified date / time agreed upon, allowing one hour to clean-up after the event is completed. To submit a Clubhouse Rental Reservation, please complete the application and issue payment for the rental fee.

Scholarship

Marion County Sportmen Club awards scholarships to area high school seniors annually. Deadline for application is March 31st, 2026.

  1. You must be a graduate at your high school or home school program located in Marion County, IA mid-term 2025 or spring 2026 and attend an accredited college or trade school the following fall semester after graduation.

  2. Immediate family needs to be a member of the Marion County Sportsmen Club (parent, stepparent, legal guardian, or grandparent) at the time of application.

  3. Selection will be based upon your application letter and reference letters provided. Please do not use electronic communications with any part of this application.

How to Apply:

If you are selected for a scholarship, you will receive an award letter in the mail by June 1st with instructions for disbursement of the funds for the fall semester. Your picture and name may appear in the MCSC’s Social Media page, the newspaper or the bulletin board at the club. Please indicate if you do not wish this information to be published or displayed.

HUNTER’S EDUCATION

A person born after 1971 who has not taken a hunter education course must do so before purchasing an Iowa hunting license.
